About

Hi there! I'm Valerie Johnson. I'm an intern with the Church News, which is the most awesome job in the history of awesome jobs. (Believe me, I've had some really good ones.) So I guess you could label me a Journalist. I like writing, Batman, writing about Batman, reading Sherlock Holmes books, and knitting sweaters if someone is willing to pay for the yarn.

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah where I was raised by goodly parents in the LDS church. Even though I grew up with the Book of Mormon always within reach, I wouldn't say I was converted to the church until a few years ago. I read the Book of Mormon, this time with the intent of finding out if it was true. When I prayed about it, I received confirmation from the Holy Ghost that it is the word of God. Because of that, I know that this church is true and I am so happy to be a member!

The Liahona
One of my favorite stories in the Book of Mormon is about the Liahona. Maybe I just love having a clear set of instructions like the Liahona gives to Nephi and his family, but I crave having someone telling me exactly what to do. Sometimes Heavenly Father doesn't do that, so I have to ask someone else — usually my mom.

I know I'm not the best of guides to life, but I've learned a few things along the way. Most of them are simple, dumb things. But I like to share them with everyone who will listen to me. I hope you enjoy my opinions that I have inflicted on the world; if so, please leave a comment, follow my blog, and tell your friends.
